JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (October 23, 2024) – The Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF) recently awarded The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Hope For The Warriors a one-year grant. The grant supports the clinic’s continued mental health services provided to the children of post-9/11 military members in Onslow County.

The Bob Woodruff Foundation works to ensure that our nation’s veterans, service members, and their families — those who stood for us — have stable and successful futures.

The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Hope For The Warriors provides confidential, high-quality behavioral health care services at little to no-cost without long wait times to post-9/11 veterans, active duty service members with a TRICARE referral and military families.

The clinic is a local resource connection for the community, including Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville and greater Onslow County area. Services are available regardless of discharge status, role in uniform, combat experience, ability to pay or insurance.

“Hope For The Warriors was born at Camp Lejeune, so it’s only fitting that we continue our work here with our The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Hope For The Warriors,” shared Robin Kelleher, founder and CEO at Hope For The Warriors. “We all know that the entire military family serves and that can take a toll on the whole family. So we’re honored to use these critical funds to support our youngest warriors with mental health support that will trickle across the entire family.”

The goal of the BWF grant is to provide evidence-based mental health care to improve mental health and behavioral outcomes for at least 49 military-connected children at the Cohen Clinic. These services will include Parent Child Interactive Therapy “PCIT”, a model that is conducted through parent/caregiver coaching sessions through interactive play with their child, in addition to Play Therapy, which incorporates one-on-one interactions between a therapist and a child.

About the Bob Woodruff Foundation

The Bob Woodruff Foundation was founded in 2006 after reporter Bob Woodruff was wounded by a roadside bomb while covering the war in Iraq. To date, the Bob Woodruff Foundation has invested over $165 million to ensure that our nation’s veterans, service members and their families — those who stood for us — have stable and successful futures.
