Ken Huff and his team assess home repairs for a HOPE Gold Star Mother.
This April, Hope For The Warriors would like to recognize Ken Huff as our volunteer of the month! Please join us in celebrating Ken, as his hard work and dedication to our organization ensure we can serve the military community each and every day.
Ken, a former NFL player, has been a part of the HOPE family since our organization started 16 years ago! He has been involved as a celebrity, attending our Invitational, and he continues to go above and beyond using his talents and skills to serve our warrior community.
With his background and knowledge in residential building construction, Ken recently assisted HOPE with a project for one of our Gold Star Mothers who lost two sons who served in the Marine Corps.
“After receiving a call from one of our Gold Star Mothers about a hole in her kitchen floor, we reached out to Ken to see if he could help us get it fixed, and he offered to help renovate her whole kitchen,” said HOPE Strategic Alliance Director Jordan Huffman. “Ken spearheaded the project by donating his time and his team’s time. He also was able to work with his suppliers to get most of the products donated.”
HOPE President/CEO Robin Kelleher nominated Ken for this honor as she has worked closely with him over the years.
“Ken’s participation in our events always brings it to another level,” said Robin. “Despite his illustrious career in the NFL, he is humble and lets our service members know that they are the stars of the show and the heroes. Ken and his team’s work for our Gold Star Mother is beyond words. He showed her that there is light in her life, that people truly care, and that there is HOPE for her and her family.”
Described as leading with kindness and a gentle heart by HOPE staff, Ken is an individual we know we can always rely on. His positivity, enthusiasm, and warmth are infectious and embody HOPE’s core values and spirit.
Thank you, Ken, for selflessly giving back to our military families! Because of volunteers like you, we can continuously carry out our mission of restoring a sense of self, family, and HOPE to our warrior community.
