SPRINGFIELD, Va. (June 27, 2023) – The Virginia Department of Veteran Services recently granted Hope For The Warriors a $100,000 grant to assist military families across the state of Virginia. The grant will assist Hope For The Warriors to support its Critical Needs program funding for one year. It’s estimated that the funding will directly provide support to 78 individuals.

Hope For The Warriors’ Critical Needs program assists service members, veterans and their families in two specific ways. Program coordinators provide integrated case management, financial education, with an emphasis on long-term financial stability, and resource referrals that assist the warrior both today and in the future. Then, if the warrior meets program eligibility criteria, financial support may be provided to assist the family in the short-term.

In addition, the clients can receive services from Hope For The Warriors’ Military & Veteran Peer Mentors program, or additional support services, such as employment, education and resilience training.

Celebrating 16 years of service, Hope For The Warriors has assisted over 159,000 veterans, service members and military families by providing financial, career and educational stability; physical and emotional strength; and social support that builds community.

“It’s honor to use these funds to assist military families across Virginia with critical needs,” said Robin Kelleher, co-founder and CEO of the nonprofit organization. “We know the needs of the military family are ever-changing and Hope For The Warriors is ready to provide the support needed to help families thrive.”
