Hope For The Warriors is honored to announce Katie Bishop as our Volunteer of the Month this July!

Katie, the Head of Corporate Environmental, Social, and Governance for Forward Air Corporation, has been a part of the HOPE family since 2019. It was HOPE’s mission, core values, and ethos that initially drew her and her team to our organization, and since then, they have been instrumental to the success of our programs and services.

“In late 2019, our company decided that we needed to identify our corporate cause, and after an afternoon session with our top 25 decision-makers, we decided on veteran support,” said Katie. “After that, we researched different non-profits to partner with and came across Hope For The Warriors. HOPE was attractive to us because they were founded by military families, take a 360° approach to supporting our veterans and their families, and because 90.1% of every dollar raised goes to their programs and services for veterans.”

Danielle Rose, HOPE’s National Donor Events Manager, nominated Katie for this recognition as she has witnessed first-hand how Katie’s involvement with HOPE has benefited our warrior community. This past May, we joined Forward Air to host a golf tournament, dinner, and silent auction, all to raise money for HOPE’s well-being services and Drive For Hope program, designed to help injured service members and veterans regain their independence through adaptive driving equipment and training.

“Katie was the motivating force behind all of the planning, execution, and follow-up for the inaugural Drive For Hope event,” said Danielle. “Her efforts maintained cohesion between the Forward Air and Hope For The Warriors teams, guiding us toward a successful event that ultimately resulted in $375,000 in support of HOPE’s programs and services. Planning an event of this scale is no easy task, but Katie led by example with continuous dedication and a positive attitude! I truly value her as a person and as a HOPE partner!”

Showing commitment and support to our nation’s heroes and their families has always been important to Katie. With both her grandfathers serving in the military and working side by side with veterans, she truly understands the sacrifice these individuals make daily.

“This work is very important because I owe my freedom to our veterans,” said Katie. “They make the ultimate sacrifice to protect me and our country, and it’s the least I could do to thank them. We also have many veterans employed at Forward Air, and it’s important to me that they feel our gratitude and support.”

Thank you, Katie, for your dedication to our military community! Because of volunteers like you, HOPE can continue to change the lives of all those we serve. We can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together next!

“It is such a pleasure to work with HOPE,” said Katie. “They have a tremendous staff who are committed to their mission and always make it fun. I look forward to partnering with HOPE for many years to come!”
