Programs for Veterans, Service Members and Military Families Fueled by Donation
MONTVILLE, N.J. (April 19, 2018) – Douggie Larson, a fifth-grade William Mason Elementary School student, recently donated $100 from selling handmade wooden flags benefiting Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family and hope for veterans, service members and military families.
Working thru the Trep$ entrepreneur club at his school, Larsen came up with the idea, created the product and sold it at the club’s annual fair.
Inspired by his Army veteran father and being named after his Marine grandfather and his father’s best friend who was killed in action while serving in Iraq, Larsen in thankful for those who serve.
“I know it’s because of military members that we have our freedoms and luxuries,” said Larsen. “I wanted to help families of wounded service members and because my dad was a soldier.”
Larsen was born in 2007 and a week later his father, Doug, deployed to Iraq for a year.
Celebrating 11 years of service, Hope For The Warriors assists veterans, service members and military families with a variety of programming including clinical health and wellness and sports and recreation.
