DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – Local artist Michelle Marra is utilizing her personal painting meditation and a stay at home order to create custom pieces of art benefiting military families through Hope For The Warriors.

Marra creates 8×8 abstract paintings for anyone who donates at least $50 to Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit that assists veterans, service members and military families with a variety of programming including clinical health and wellness, sports and recreation and transition services.

A self-described spiritual colorist, Marra had uncles who served in the Korean War and a father who desperately wanted to join them but couldn’t due to his eyesight issues. Inspired by their commitment, she wanted to do something to help those in need during this time of isolation.

“Hope For The Warriors helps our military and their family get back on their feet and I wanted to do something to thank those who have sacrificed for us,” said Marra.

“It takes several days to make each piece as I paint on paper and then glue to cradled board. It’s my therapy to explore a colorful land of texture and movement. Every day is a gift. Keep the faith and be good to yourself.”

Since beginning in late March, Marra has raised over $800 for Hope For The Warriors with her custom pieces.

“Michelle’s paintings are a beautiful light in such a stressful and uncertain time,” said Robin Kelleher, co-founder and president of the nonprofit organization. “For her to use this time to create custom pieces that will benefit the work we’re doing with military families is truly a testament of how the good shines through the bad. We’re grateful for her donation of time and amazing talents.”
