Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey’s to receive the Chairman’s Award for Corporate Citizenship
The outdoor event will honor members of our nation’s armed forces and their families with the Vigiano Hope & Courage Awards, named in honor of the Vigiano family, who lost both of their sons in the September 11th attacks. In addition, Hope For The Warriors will honor individuals, corporations and organizations that have supported the organization in serving military families.
Casey’s will receive the Chairman’s Award for Corporate Citizenship, which is awarded to a group which not only highlights the benefits of veterans in the workplace but leads by example in enriching the lives of military families, both active-duty and retired.
The FORTUNE 500 company operates over 2,300 convenience stores throughout the Midwest and South.
With the longtime support of Casey’s former CEO Bob Myers, a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel, Casey’s has raised over $6.6 million for Hope For The Warriors and its programs in nine years. Myers served on the Hope For The Warriors board for five years advocating for military families across the country.
Accepting the award for Casey’s will be Jay Soupene, vice president of operations excellence and retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel. Soupene is also a member of the Hope For The Warriors board of directors, championing Casey’s support for his fellow servicemembers, veterans and their families.
Casey’s current CEO, Darren Rebelez, was an U.S. Army Ranger in the Gulf War and graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He carries the company’s commitment to supporting America’s military families.
The Summer Soirée kicks off at 6 p.m. and will feature a performance by Lee Greenwood who will sing his patriotic hit, “God Bless the U.S.A.”
The evening event aims to bring together veteran and civilian supporters to celebrate the strength and resiliency of the military community. It’s an evening filled with inspiring and uplifting stories that raises awareness of the impactful work Hope For The Warriors is doing in the lives of our servicemembers, veterans and their families. Senior military, distinguished guests, celebrities, corporate benefactors, and friends join together to honor these very special people.
