Hope For The Warriors will host a Wellness Expo February 17 at Martial Arts and More in Jacksonville. The event is free for active-duty military members and immediate families and $20 (suggested donation) for veterans and civilian community members.
The all-day event will feature Brazilian Jujitsu, yoga and women’s self-defense classes, along with speakers promoting mental fortitude and improving one’s self-worth through wellness, in addition to vendors showcasing community resources for transitioning through key times in life.
Keynote speaker and veteran James Slife will talk about joining the Marine Corps at 17 and becoming a member of the elite special forces team DET 1 and how wellness still plays a key role in his life today. His rigorous military career includes five combat deployments on either a two-man sniper team or as part of a 40-man raid team, becoming a certified skydiving Jump-master and qualified in High-Altitude Low-Opening (HALO) skydives, and has served as a Combative Diver, Explosive Instructor, Breacher, Ranger, USMC Martial Arts Instructor Trainer, and a USMC Scout Sniper. Slife has competed in numerous road races, including multiple ultra-marathons that were 50 miles in length
Preregistration is encouraged by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling (910) 389-5091.
All proceeds from the wellness expo will go to support Hope For The Warriors and its variety of programs which include transition, clinical health and wellness, sports and recreation, community engagement, development and awareness.
