Raising Support for the Limb Loss Community in Mediaplanet’s “Amputee Awareness” Campaign
In honor of Limb Loss Awareness Month, Hope For The Warriors is partnering with Mediaplanet for their Amputee Awareness campaign—launching April 29th as a special section USA Today, online at http://www.futureofhealthcarenews.com and on social media—to advocate for the millions of Americans touched by amputation, be it from health-related ailments or through selfless sacrifice as veterans.
With the added support of The Amputee Coalition, runway model Rebekah Marine, American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetics, LIM Innovations, UC San Diego’s Human Research Protections Program (HRPP), Derma Sciences, BionX Medical Technologies and many more, Amputee Awareness aims to educate readers, raise awareness and offer support to those who belong to, or work with the limb loss community- reminding them that they are not alone and helping them to live a full, productive life.
Hope For The Warriors, the non-profit organization that works to enhance the lives of service members, veterans and their loved ones by providing holistic support services, made possible through the tireless efforts of volunteers and generous donations from sponsors, will also be kicking off their annual Run For The Warriors race series at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina. The Inaugural Charlotte Run For The Warriors, presented by Sealed Air, will be held on Saturday, April 23rd.
Run For The Warriors races are unique events held in various cities across the nation each year, dedicated to the men and women wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan, their families, and families of the fallen. The runs are a celebration of the strength and resolve of the military community and a promise to continue restoring self, family, and hope. The races’ goal is to establish a long-term understanding and respect for the needs of local military families in their communities by providing wounded service members encouragement and the opportunity to pursue the sport of running, walking, or cycling to assist in their physical and emotional rehabilitation. Distances for each event vary and all courses are hand-cycle and adaptive equipment-friendly.
“Hope For The Warriors is excited to partner with Sealed Air to bring the Run For The Warriors to Charlotte,” said Hope For The Warriors President, Robin Kelleher. “We have already seen incredible support from the Charlotte community to support our military families.”
All proceeds from the event benefit Hope For The Warriors programs and directly affect the quality of life of those they support.
