JACKSONVILLE, N.C. – Jacksonville resident and U.S. Marine Master Sergeant Morgon Latimore was recently recognized as volunteer of the month by Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family and hope for post-9/11 veterans, service members and military families.
For two years, Latimore has led the charge of coaching and motivating Team Hope For The Warriors members in preparing their bodies and minds for events such as the TCS NYC Marathon, United Airlines NYC Half-Marathon, Tobacco Road Marathon and more.
Team Hope For The Warriors provides athletes of all abilities the opportunity to engage the competitive spirit at endurance events. Latimore explained his part as making himself available to answer any and all questions athletes have. He believes that, “a little direction can go a long way and bring confidence to the athlete on race day.”
“Coach Morgon has been an amazing motivator, coach and supporter for Hope For The Warriors athletes,” said Hope For The Warriors Community and Peer to Peer Manager Irina Watkins. “He has shown them how important being active is as far as mental and physical health is concerned, and how sports can keep us all connected.”
Latimore also has been running Latitude Pure Coaching for 10 years, providing athletes with the tools to be successful on race day or in their fitness journeys. When asked what led him to start his business he said, “I wanted to help people achieve what they believed to be impossible.”
