2020 has brought a lot of ups and downs for us all, especially affecting military families. Yet it is through these challenging times that we find “helpers” — people who want to support those navigating troublesome times and build resilience in the lives of individuals and our communities.
We at Hope For The Warriors are helpers, and with the support of the Texas Veterans Commission are able to expand our support to veterans and military families in Texas.
This year, Hope For The Warriors was awarded a grant for $250,000 to provide temporary financial support to qualifying individuals through HOPE’s Critical Care Coordination and Transition Critical Support services.
Critical Care Coordination
Originally designed to meet short-term needs in the days following an injury, HOPE’s Critical Care Coordination program has expanded to assist various populations of our military that include post-9/11 combat-wounded veterans and their families, post-9/11 homeless veterans, and post-9/11 veterans who are survivors of Military Sexual Trauma as they navigate through long-term recovery.
It begins by identifying what has put a financial burden on your family: delays in disability claims processing, loss of income, homelessness, the need for increased care due to injury progression, and/or unexpected expenses.
Transition Critical Support
Each year, 200,000 service members are transitioning from active duty to civilian life. Hope For The Warriors understands how challenging transitions can be. Finding and establishing employment can create gaps in income. Others may seek assistance with education and supplies. This program offers additional support that ensures veterans and their families are on a pathway to success. HOPE’s Transition Critical Support programs helps post-9/11 military families navigate transitional challenges through general case management and one-time financial support.
Through the TVC Grant, Hope For The Warriors can assist post-9/11 veterans and their families in the following ways:
