Richard Deosingh loves to travel because it allows him to experience different cultures worldwide. When he goes through airport security, he pulls out that little booklet with stamps from all the countries he’s visited like a badge of honor. “My passport is my most prized possession,” Richard says before thinking deeply about his following statement. “The only reason I have the passport is because of the men and women who gave their lives. Who fought. Who signed up. I could go on and on. If not for that, would I have a passport? Probably not.”
Richard has a deep appreciation for the military community, and as the District President at Robert Half, a talent solutions firm, he can show that appreciation through action. “We have an opportunity to say more than ‘Thank you for your service,’ he says. “It propels us to take it to the next level.” If Richard and his team at Robert Half can’t help or place a transitioning veteran into a new role, they can assist them in positioning themselves for the right opportunities.
Richard has helped veterans through Hope For The Warriors by participating in virtual employment webinars. HOPE’s Career Transition Program Manager nominated Richard as the Volunteer of the Month because of his enthusiasm for providing career guidance and professional tips. “Richard brings a real-world, civilian perspective to the information he provides to our veterans and transitioning families,” Brian says. “Richard has an in-depth understanding of translating that military transition into civilian opportunities. He has been involved with Hope For The Warriors for several years and genuinely understands the community we serve.”
Richard has put in the hours, time, and effort to get to the position where he is now in New York City. He spent 13 years in accounting before joining Robert Half over two decades ago. “There is no substitute for hard work,” he says. “If you put your mind to it, you can achieve it.” He knows what it takes to succeed and wants to share that knowledge with others, specifically the service members and veterans willing to raise their hands and ask for help. “It gives you a sense of fulfillment,” he says. “You’re paying it forward.”
