That’s why Hope For The Warriors means so much to me and my husband. It not only made it possible for me to study art, it gave me a safe place to share my experience with others going through something similar. Kayak for the Warriors 5K and 10K @ Inn at Pine Knoll Shores

We kick off our Kayak for the Warrior activities by hosting a 5K  and 10K Beach Run on Saturday, May 25, 2019. These runs will be electronically timed by Run the East, a professional race timing service of North Carolina. For more race timing info please see www.runtheeast.com. The event fee for the 5K is $25 and the fee for the 10K is $30, both include a t-shirt.  All runners will line up with the elite runners in front, casual runners next. All runners start at 8:00 a.m.

The race course for the 5K will begin on the beach near the Inn at Pine Knoll Shores and proceed east towards Indian Beach. Both races will remain on the beach.  Run times will be posted on this site just as we do with the Kayak race with special note to the top three finishers in several age and gender groups

The age and gender groups are as follows:

  • Females 15 and Under
  • Females 16 – 65
  • Females 66+
  • Male 15 and Under
  • Males 16 -65
  • Males 66+

There is parking at the common beach access parking across the street from the Inn at Pine Knoll Shores, the Beacon’s Reach Management Association parking lot, and behind the Beacon’s Reach Management office in the landscape field (both off of 58).  Two portable potties will be located at the Inn at Pine Knoll Shores next to common beach access.

On Thursday evening May 30, 2019, at 6:00 PM, the annual Warrior Reception with its two auctions (Live and Silent) will be held at the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.This event, which especially honors our combat wounded, is also intended to recognize all of our veterans.

This is a delightfully entertaining evening for everyone. For an admission fee of $10, you gain admittance to the aquarium and all its exhibits and are invited to enjoy some of the finest food our local restaurants provide. One serving of beer or wine is included, as is unlimited water or soda. Additional wine/beer can be purchased for $2 per serving.

Please stroll through the galleries and take a few minutes to place a bid on one of the silent auction items.The Silent Auction will feature 100 items by local artists and craftsmen as well as items donated by local merchants. We will also have raffle tickets for sale, for a chance at some unique items.

Additionally, there will be a Live Auction featuring the antics of “Auctioneers on Deck” in the Aquarium Auditorium. There will be another 25 or so large ticket items in the Live Auction.
Last year these items included a kayak, beach cruiser, football tickets, hotels and vacation, golf outings, hang gliding, professional services, a beautiful hand-made quilt, fabulous stained glass, wooden art pieces and more. This year will feature the same caliber of items. Please plan to take your items home on the night of the auction as we will be charging a $20 holding fee per item to transport & hold the items at Town Hall.

We look forward to a fun evening, with entertainment, great auction items, good food and friends. We hope you participate generously for the benefit of our combat wounded.

A 3.2-mile kayak and paddle board race through the Pine Knoll Shores canals and Bogue Sound begins Saturday, June 1, 2019, at 10 a.m. A $50 registration fee for a single kayak/SUP or $100 for a tandem includes a Warrior T-shirt and lunch for each paddler.   The Warrior race winner will be the participant who brings in the most money with donations.  Each racer is encouraged to raise at least $100 in additional donations from their sponsors.

All sponsor dollars must be submitted 24 hours before the race including the electronic cut off submitting on line.

Loaner kayaks are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. In order to reserve a loaner, the participant must register online and then contact us  via email  at coordinator@k4tw.org.

After all kayak and paddle board racers return to shore, an awards ceremony and Barbecue Feast will begin at 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Garner Park. For those not racing in any events, the cost to participate in the lunch is $10 per person with a max of $15 per family. K4TW t-shirts will be available for purchase.  A fantastic raffle will take place as well. Raffle tickets are available prior to the event from committee members as well as at Saturday’s race.
