NEW YORK (Nov. 20, 2017) – With the support of Hope For The Warriors, 46 Team Hope For The Warriors Community Team members completed the 2017 TCS NYC Marathon to raise funds and awareness for veterans, service members and military families.

They joined runners from around the world, running through the five NYC boroughs and crossing the finish line in the iconic event. Each team member raised funds for Hope For The Warriors and combined, Team Hope For The Warriors community team members raised more than $117,000 benefiting Hope For The Warriors’ programs.

Team Hope For The Warriors, one of the Hope For The Warriors’ Sports and Recreation programs, provides athletes of all abilities the opportunity to engage their competitive spirit at endurance events. Warrior Team members are provided adaptive equipment and race support to ensure that they are defined by their achievements rather than by their injuries, supporting their rehabilitation and mental health, while re-engaging competitive spirts.

Community Team members challenge themselves to raise funds for America’s heroes, set new athletic goals, or simply support our military. Together, these team members are united by the goal to improve the rehabilitation of wounded service members and military families.

“It’s an honor to have had so many Team Hope For The Warriors Community Team members compete in this iconic race on behalf of Hope For The Warriors,” said Robin Kelleher, co-founder and president of Hope For The Warriors. “It takes months of preparation to compete in a marathon so we’re proud of our team members for their dedication to the sport and their health, all while supporting military families across the country.”

Celebrating more than 11 years of service, Hope For The Warriors assists veterans, service members and military families with a variety of programming including transition services, clinical health and wellness, sports and recreation, community development and engagement.
