WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (December 15, 2021) – The Bear Lakes Annual Golf Tournament recently broke the $1 million mark through its 11th annual tournament benefiting Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family and hope for veterans, service members and military families.
This annual event was founded 11 years ago by Bear Lakes resident and U.S. Marine and Purple Heart Recipient George MacClary. MacClary is a Vietnam veteran and longtime supporter of Hope For The Warriors.
“George is a very humble man who prefers to shine the spotlight on the generation of veterans who need our help today,” said Robin Kelleher, co-founder and president of the nonprofit organization. “His dedication to supporting his fellow veterans and military families is more than just volunteering, but his way of life and passion.”
“We started 11 years ago with a goal of raising $25,000,” said MacClary. “The first year we raised $32,000 and every year raising the bar/goal. Every year the members have stepped up to help those who have served for all of us and this year we’re excited to hit our $1 million goal.”
Celebrating over 15 years of service, Hope For The Warriors assists veterans, service members and military families with a variety of programming including clinical health and wellness, sports and recreation and transition services.
“Hope For The Warriors was born and has thrived on the support of communities like Bear Lakes coming together to support military families year-after-year and are blown away that after 11 years they’ve hit such a momentous goal of $1 million raised,” said Kelleher. “We’re forever grateful for the time and efforts of George, his wife Joan and Steve Pembrooke that spend months organizing and supporting this tremendous event.”
