Over the past 16 years, we’re lucky to have formed friendships and connections that have withstood the test of time. One such friend is George MacClary, retired U.S. Marine, Vietnam veteran, and Purple Heart recipient.
“George is a very humble man who prefers to shine the spotlight on the generation of veterans who need our help today,” shares our CEO Robin Kelleher. “His dedication to supporting his fellow veterans and military families is more than just volunteering, but his way of life and passion.”
For the past 12 years, Mr. MacClary has been part of the HOPE community as the organizer of the Bear Lakes Golf Tournament in West Palm Beach, Florida, and supporting a tournament at Cape Cod Country Club. These events honor post-9/11 veterans and families while raising funds to support Hope For The Warriors programs and services. Last year, the Bear Lakes Golf Tournament broke the $1 million mark after 11 years of hosting the event – a true testament to George’s dedication to the warrior community. HOPE dedicated a tree at the Bear Lakes Golf Course to commemorate this milestone to honor his commitment for the past 12 years.
