The 2018-2019 government shutdown resulted in delayed income for members of the Coast Guard in January 2019.

In partnership with Fisher House Foundation, HOPE was able to provide much-needed relief for those Coast Guard families in need. Our intakes team reached a peak of fielding an average of 10 requests for assistance EVERY HOUR from Coast Guard families. In under three weeks, together, we directly impacted over 1,500 Coast Guard family members from 37 states in the form of gift cards for essentials, such as food and fuel.

“Thanks to our partner, the Fisher House Foundation, Hope For The Warriors was able to meet the growing need of support for Coast Guard members and their families impacted by the government shutdown,” shares Robin Kelleher. “We could offer financial resources that met the greater demand, ensuring rent and bills were paid, food could stay on the table, and cars were filled with gas.”

Partnerships with other like-minded organizations such as Fisher House have been a crucial part of our mission and our history, and we’re proud to stand side by side in the fight to serve our warriors.
