When the brave men and women of our military leave the service, it can be challenging to adjust to the civilian pace of life. Companies who advocate for the military community can often be a great support system for these service members, as they help ensure our nation’s heroes find success. For nearly 20 years, Hy-Vee has committed to giving back to those who have served through programs like Hy-Vee Homefront. To honor them for this dedication, Hope For The Warriors was proud to present them with the 2022 Chairman’s Award for Corporate Citizenship!

This award is given to a group that not only highlights the benefits of veterans in the workplace but leads by example in enriching the lives of military families, both active-duty and retired. We were proud to present Hy-Vee with this award on August 28 at the 2022 Hope For The Warriors Summer Soirée, hosted by River Landing in Wallace, NC, and presented by Siemens Government Technologies.

“It’s an evening filled with inspiring and uplifting stories that raises awareness of the impactful work Hope For The Warriors is doing in the lives of our servicemembers, veterans and their families. Senior military, distinguished guests, celebrities, corporate benefactors, and friends join together to honor these very special people,” shared Robin Kelleher, co-founder, president/CEO of Hope For The Warriors.

Hy-Vee Homefront is an initiative to increase awareness of and support for the organizations that serve our nation’s military members, veterans, and their families. Through the Hy-Vee Homefront Round Up, customers can round their grocery bill to any amount, or the nearest dollar, where the proceeds go to organizations like HOPE, so we can do our part in serving those who have served. Over the course of the last eight years, Hy-Vee’s Homefront Round Up has raised over $1 million for our programs and services!

With a commitment to employing service members, Hy-Vee also actively recruits current military members and veterans to join their team. Offering unique benefits to newly hired and eligible veterans, they truly embody what it means to take care of those who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms.

Georgia Van Gundy, Hy-Vee’s Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, and Chief Customer Officer, as well as Tina Potthoff, Hy-Vee’s Senior Vice President of Communications, have both been instrumental in the relationship HOPE has with Hy-Vee and we are thankful for their commitment our nation’s heroes and their families! It is because of individuals like Tina, Georgia, and the entire Hy-Vee team, that the military community has HOPE for their futures.

We were honored to recognize Hy-Vee at this event and to thank them for their continued support of our military community. The work the entire Hy-Vee team does each day with their Homefront initiative continues to help meet the changing needs of service members and their families. Thank you, Hy-Vee, we can’t wait to see the progress we make together in the future!
