Town raises highest amount to date
PINE KNOLL SHORES, N.C. (September 15, 2022) – Raising the highest amount to date, the Town of Pine Knoll Shores brought in $85,800 through its 15th Annual Kayak for the Warriors. The annual event benefits Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family and hope for veterans, service members and military families.
The three-day event featured a gala and silent and live auction, golf tournament and 3.2-mile kayak and paddle board race, and barbecue lunch.
Since 2008, Kayak for the Warriors has raised over $785,000 benefiting Hope For The Warriors and its programs.
“This was the best year ever,” said Jean McDanal volunteer event coordinator for Kayak for the Warriors. “Kayak for the Warriors garnered $85,800 for Hope For The Warriors as a result of our three great events. Our thanks go to all of our in-kind and cash donors, all of our participants and our wonderful volunteers. We couldn’t have done it without you!”
Founded aboard Camp Lejeune, Hope For The Warriors assists veterans, service members and military families with a variety of programming including health and wellness, sports and recreation, and transition services.
“The Town of Pine Knoll Shores and its dedicated group of volunteers never cease to amaze us with their impeccable work on these annual events,” said Robin Kelleher, co-founder and president of the nonprofit organization. “It’s truly amazing to see an entire town come together year-after-year to support the military families in their community. Pine Knoll Shores has been with Hope For The Warriors since our inception over 16 years ago and we’re truly honored.”
