CPL. Ronnie Porta, USMC
On May 5, 2007, the world changed for Ronnie when his humvee hit a roadside IED--a blast that killed two Marines instantly
and severely burned Ronnie. Though his family was rushed to his bedside in Germany to say goodbye, Ronnie beat the odds. His
prognosis was devastating: 3rd, 4th and 5th degree burns over 35% of his total body surface area and subsequent right arm
amputation, facial disfigurement with the loss of his nose, damage to ears and eye sockets, and loss of fingers on his left hand.
In the year since his injury, Ronnie’s working-class parents have drained their financial resources flying back and forth from
Maryland to the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Ronnie wants nothing more than to be able to spend his recovery
periods with his family at home, in Maryland, yet this won’t be possible until a safe and sterile bathroom environment can be
provided for him.
Ronnie represents the best of America—a first-generation American willing to defend our country and fight the forces of evil
despite the incredible sacrifices. He is deserving of any and all of our assistance to reach new heights and find joy in life--hope
beyond recovery. Since 2006 Hope For The Warriors™ has had the honor of serving wounded service members and their families whose
spirit and inspirational stories represent the best in American resolve and hope. We invite you to join us in honoring the family
of Ronnie Porta. Any donations will help to make his dream of returning home a reality.
