2007 Run For The Warriors Race Results
The 2007 Run For The Warriors
as seen on HBO Alive Day Memories: Home From Iraq
The 2nd Annual Run For The Warriors was an amazing success. The
weather was beautiful and the runners came in huge numbers - over
3000 registered for the event aboard Camp Lejeune. The event
featured a 10K, 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk. Each race was escorted by
several riders from the North Carolina Patriot Guard. The 10K race
included 5 racers on handbikes. Inspiring all of the runners in
both the 10 and 5K races were over 20 units representing Camp
Lejeune. New River Air Station and Cherry Point.
The Kids Run For The WarriorsT
The Kids Run For The WarriorsT event was held at Great
Bridge Middle School in Chesapeake, VA on May 19, 2007 as
part of the Run For The WarriorsT race series. With over 100
registered, The 1st Kids Run For The Warriors raised over $3000
allowing children to support their heroes both locally and
nationwide.
The Run For The WarriorsT - Iraq
On May 19, 2007, at Camp Taqaddum, Iraq, over 650 Marines,
Sailors and Soldiers participated in the 1st Run For The WarriorsT
- Iraq as part of the Run For The WarriorsT race series. While the
racers numbered in the 600s, registrants numbered over 1000.
This event raised over $27,000 in registration fees and
donations. We are pleased to announce that the units came out in
force to support their brothers and sisters who have returned home
wounded and this event was the largest running event in Iraq to
date.
The "Iraq Spirit Award" was awarded to the Marines and Sailors
of 2d Maintenance Bn with the strongest presence. 2d Maintenance
Bn also won the "Unit Spirit" award at the 2006 Camp Lejeune Run
