Family Reintegration - Hope For The Warriors®

Family Reintegration

Our military spouses are the unsung heroes within the folds of the military. They do not earn medals or promotions and not a single paycheck is deposited in their name. Yet, the weight of sacrifice and service has been set squarely on their shoulders. The Family Reintegration Program aims to strengthen our military families by educating and caring for the spouses of our wounded service members.

Hope For The Warriors® and Holliswood Hospital have joined forces to develop a new Family Reintegration Program. The Family Reintegration Program aims to, first and foremost, support wounded warriors and their families by engaging the warrior and their spouse/caregiver in a therapeutic experience that promotes family communication, recovery and resiliency.

The Family Reintegration Program will transport the wounded warrior's spouse/caregiver to New York for a three-day, therapeutic workshop that will include education and skills training on PTSD, marital and individual therapy sessions, and respite. All participants will receive ongoing follow up and support.

Holliswood Hospital, in Queens, NY, is an inpatient treatment facility with a highly-regarded Military Wellness Program.

While the service member or veteran is admitted into the Military Wellness Program, the spouse will enter the Family Reintegration Program for a three-day therapeutic workshop that will include:

  • Focused education and skills training to better understand and manage PTSD, mild TBI and substance misuse issues.
  • Conjoint/marital therapy, focusing on strengthening the marriage and family.
  • Screening for the spouse and family members for behavioral health and other issues in need of support.
  • Ongoing follow up and support for the spouse after the warrior has completed the residential program.
  • Respite/self-care opportunities for the spouse while in New York.
  • Opportunities for ongoing education and support services.

All program costs, including travel, will be free of charge for the service member and their family.
