RACE DAY INFORMATION

RACE DAY INFORMATION:
We invite young and old, military and civilian to welcome home and embrace our Wounded Warriors. Hope For The Warriors™ also invites and encourages wheelchair and handcycle participants to take part in this special celebration.

All participants must be at the race site no later than 7:45 a.m. The Opening Ceremony begins at 7:50am to pay tribute to all wounded warriors and their families. The 10K, 5K and 1 Mile Run will begin immediately following the ceremony. Wheelchair and hand cycle participants will lead off the races. During and after the race, a service expo will provide access to those agencies offering support to Wounded Warriors and their families and foster awareness for community involvement. An awards/closing ceremony will immediately follow all races including entertainment by Melissa Jones. Joggers are permitted; however, we request that runners with joggers start in the back of their race group. Bicycles, skates and skateboards are prohibited.

RACE DAY SCHEDULE

** 6:00 a.m. – 7:30 a.m. - Late Registration ($30/person; $100 for family of 4). Late T-Shirt/Bib Pick-Up/Chip Pick-up
** 7:50 a.m.- Opening Ceremony - Wounded Warrior Welcome Home and Tribute
** 10K Run/Walk will begin immediately following the Opening Ceremony
** 5K Run/Walk - will follow the 10K start
** 1 mile Run/Walk will follow the 5K start
** 10:00 a.m.- Closing/Awards Ceremonies

Please note - roads will be closed at 7:45am. You must show up for the race by 7:45am.

A service expo at the race site will provide access to those agencies that offer support to the Wounded Warriors and their families and will raise awareness in how the community can become involved.

Immediately following all races there will be an awards/closing ceremony. We will introduce and award the winner of the t-shirt contest as well as the top male and female overall and each male and female age category in the 10K and 5K races.

PACKET PICK – UP

Packet Pick-up is available and encouraged on Friday, May 16, 2008 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Goettge Fieldhouse and on race day from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Unit packet pick-up will take place on Wednesday, May 14 at the Warrior House Resource Center and at a designated area at the Fieldhouse from 12 – 2 p.m.

Packets include the 2008 race t-shirt, bib number/pins and race goodies. Please note that timing chips will be given out on race day only and MUST be returned after the race is over. If you would like to qualify for an award, you must pick up your chip at the designated area on Race Day. The runner assumes financial responsibility for the timing chip and will be billed for any chips not returned at a rate of $20 per chip. Race packets, including t-shirts, and awards will not be mailed.

VERY IMPORTANT:

The 3rd Annual Run For The Warriors™ will take place aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. If you do not have a DOD sticker on your car please tell the MPs at the gate that you are registered for the race. The race is located at Goettge Fieldhouse aboard Camp Lejeune, NC. Race participants who do not possess DOD access to the base must obtain a visitors pass at the Main Gate Visitor's Center. Visitors must present a Photo ID/Driver's License, Vehicle Registration, and Proof of Insurance to obtain a pass."
