2009 Highlights
2009 Brewster Middle School 26-Mile Challenge
The belief that one person can make a difference is the hope of the world.
~Vice-President Hubert H. Humphrey
I AM the Hope...
Brewster Middle School 8th grade students and teachers of the Bear and Lion Teams have challenged themselves and the
BMS community to join Team Hope for the Warriors in a 26-mile run/walk-a-thon. Teachers and students alike are committed
to completing 26-miles of walking or running, not only to improve their personal health but to honor the sacrifice and
determination our warriors make for us on a daily basis. Located aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, BMS students are
military dependents who understand first hand the sacrifices made by all of our military personnel. As part of Team
Hope for the Warriors we pledge to walk or run these 26 miles in honor of our wounded warriors; our family members,
our neighbors, and our friends.
Through this experience, we are increasing our personal and social responsibilities as we collect donations
from other proud citizens like you to support the mission of Hope for the Warriors. Each week more than 170 of us
accumulate miles, many of us training for the 4th Annual Run for the Warriors on May 16th. As we head to the track
we are reminded of the challenges our wounded warriors and their families face each day, hoping that each mile we
complete will raise awareness and funds that will help make their days a little more comfortable. Any donation is
appreciated and forwarding this message on to your family and friends is welcomed.
Thank you for supporting us in the Brewster Middle School 26-Mile Challenge and our participation in Team Hope for the Warriors!
