Dallas event will equip transitioning veterans with professional development skills

DALLAS, TX (April 11, 2016)–Hope For The Warriors is pleased to invite post-9/11 veterans and service members to its Transition Fair April 28-29, 2016 in Dallas, Texas. About 50 service members are expected to attend the professional development event. Hope For The Warriors is a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family, and hope for our service members and military families.

Hope For The Warriors will present service members with classroom experience in skills transfer, resume writing, interviewing skills, critical care, community service, transition networking, and financial planning. Information will also be provided about the Hope For The Warriors Spouse/Caregiver Scholarship, which aids in continued education at a reputable, accredited university, college, or trade school for spouses/caregivers as they assume critical roles in the financial well being of their families.

The Transition Fair will take place at Honor Courage Commitment #22Kill, 13625 Neutron Rd., Dallas TX 75244.

Thursday, April 28

8:30-9:00 a.m.

Orientation and breakfast

9-10:30 a.m.

Resume writing: The importance of translating skill in a resume

10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

The art of selling yourself: basic points for a successful job interview

12-1 p.m.

Lunch – Meet and greet with the Hope For The Warriors staff

Clinical Health & Wellness, Military Relations, Spouse/Caregiver Scholarship

1-3 p.m.

One on one help with Hope For The Warriors staff

Friday, April 29

8:30-9 a.m.

Orientation and breakfast

9-10:30 a.m.

Financial planning: creating a budget, VA Loans, and changes to the GI Bill

10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

Networking: Using existing relationships, creating new ones, and using social media

12-1 p.m.

Lunch: Meet and greet with local business leaders and vet friendly organizations that can help you build a transition network

1-3 p.m.

Round table discussion: using networking skills to ease transition
